Description

The Kauri flush ceiling light pairs a dome-shaped ceramic shade in a Red Iron glaze with a round brass ceiling plate and lampholder. The glaze has a crackled, earthy surface of reddish brown, with fine cracks and broader seams across the dome, while the inside of the shade is a warm terracotta. It sits close to the ceiling, 20cm tall and 20cm across. The metalwork comes in Satin Brass, Antique Brass, Antique Silver, Matt Black, Polished Brass or Polished Copper, so you can pick the one that sits best with the handles, switches and fittings already in the room. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 40W, and bulbs are sold separately.

A flush fitting is the answer where a pendant would hang too low, and a hallway is a natural home for the Kauri: a space you walk through many times a day, often with a modest ceiling height, where a light needs to stay out of the way and still look good. The bulb sits just beneath the rim of the dome, so light falls downwards from the open shade while the bulb itself stays partly in view. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only.

Every Kauri is made to order for you in Ireland, in brass and ceramic: the metalwork in the finish you choose and the shade always glazed in Red Iron. The Matt Black finish is painted in RAL 9005. As a mains fitting, it should be wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician. The maker guarantees the fittings it makes for five years from the date of purchase, and bulbs are not covered by that guarantee. When you choose your bulb, keep to a single E27 of 40W or less, and you can pick whatever look of bulb you like.
