Description

The Kauri flush ceiling light is a one-light fitting that sits close to the ceiling, with a dome-shaped ceramic shade in the Black Clay glaze. The glaze gives the dome a dark, crackled surface traced with fine pale lines, and the inside of the shade is a smooth dark grey, so it reads as a piece of pottery as much as a light. It is made of brass and ceramic, and measures 20cm tall and 20cm across. The round ceiling plate and the lampholder collar come in a choice of six finishes: Satin Brass, Antique Brass, Antique Silver, Matt Black, Polished Brass or Polished Copper. The Matt Black finish is RAL 9005.

Its home is the hallway: at 20cm across it is a compact light, and because it sits flush rather than hanging on a cable, it keeps a narrow space feeling open overhead. The dome shade gives an earthy note against plain walls, and the choice of finishes lets you pick the metal that suits the room, from the warm glow of Polished Copper or Polished Brass to the softer tones of Antique Brass, Antique Silver and Satin Brass, or the quiet line of Matt Black. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry indoor rooms only.

Your Kauri light is made to order for you in Ireland, with the ceramic shade glazed in Black Clay and the brass fittings finished in the option you choose. It is a Class I fitting that fits on the ceiling and is wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician. The maker guarantees the fittings it makes for five years from the date of purchase; bulbs are not covered. Bulbs are sold separately, so order one E27 bulb, up to 40W per bulb, to go with it, and the light is ready to fit once it arrives.
