Description
A writing desk in mango wood, 102cm wide, 46cm deep and 84cm high, with two drawers set side by side under the top. Each drawer front carries a long panel of woven cane let into the wood, with a small round brass knob centred above it. The legs are square in section and joined by a stretcher down each side. The wood is left pale so the grain shows through, and the top is a plain slab with a small overhang all round.
At 102cm across and 46cm deep this takes a laptop, a lamp and a notebook rather than a pair of monitors, which is what lets it stand in a sitting room or a bedroom instead of asking for a room of its own. Nothing crosses between the legs under the top, so a chair pushes right in. It stands against a wall, with room for a chair drawn up to it, a lamp at one side and a stack of books at the other.
The frame and the top are mango wood and the drawer panels are cane. Mango is grown first for its fruit and cut for timber only once the trees have stopped bearing. The cane is an open weave rather than a solid sheet, so it reads as a band of shadow across each drawer front instead of a flat panel. The Kanz range also runs to a chest of drawers, a tall boy, a bedside table and a wardrobe.

Frequently Asked
How many drawers are there?
Two, side by side under the top.
How big is it?
102cm wide, 46cm deep and 84cm high.
What are the drawer fronts?
Mango wood with a woven cane panel let into each one, and a small round knob above it.
What else is in the range?
A chest of drawers, a tall boy, a bedside table and a wardrobe.
How do I look after it?
Rub an edible oil such as olive or walnut into the wood now and then with a cloth, which will darken the tone. Blot any spillage straight away with a dry cloth, since the finish marks where liquid stands, and keep chemical cleaners away from it. The colour will shift over time.
