Description

The Kando P/111 is an outdoor floor lamp built like a lantern: a tall cylinder of nautical cord held inside an open frame of teak wood, with a dark brown disc closing the top and a teak crossbar above it. Its finish is Brown & Teak Sand Nautical Cord. The light comes from an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change, and its 652lm falls through the close vertical strands of cord as a soft glow, spilling onto the ground beneath. At 49cm in diameter, it holds its own beside a sofa or an outdoor seating group.

Because it is rated IP44 and made for outdoor use, the Kando P/111 can stand on a terrace, a patio or a covered veranda, or out on a garden path. It is just as much at home indoors, in a living room where you want a lamp that reads as a piece of furniture: the teak and cord sit comfortably alongside timber, linen, rattan and stone. We think it suits anyone who spends long summer evenings outside and wants light close to where people sit, rather than a floodlight on the wall.

The structure brings together aluminium, teak wood, nautical cord and polycarbonate, with the cord wound in tight, even strands around the shade from top to bottom. It is a Class II fitting, which means it is double insulated. The Kando P/111 runs on mains power at 277V DC and comes with a 250cm cable, which gives you some freedom over where it stands. Because the LED is built in, there is no spare bulb to keep in a drawer, so the practical thing is simply to choose its spot with that cable run in mind, whether by the sofa or out on the terrace.
