Description

Our Kamarne LED downlight comes as a set of three white recessed downlights, each with an aluminium body and a round face 8.8cm across. The LED is integrated, so there is no separate bulb to fit: each light draws 4.8W and gives 450 lumens of warm 2700K light from behind a faceted silver reflector that sits deep within the trim. The rating is IP20, and that settles where these lights belong: indoors, in dry rooms, set neatly into a ceiling or the underside of a cupboard.

A set of three makes an even run of light along a kitchen, hallway or landing, and it is a sensible number for lighting a worktop from end to end. Set into the base of kitchen wall cupboards, the lights throw a soft pool onto the counter where you chop and prepare food, which is where a ceiling light often leaves you working in your own shadow. The warm 2700K colour also suits living rooms and bedrooms, where a gentle light matters more than a bright one. Because the trim is plain white, each light blends into a white ceiling or cupboard rather than drawing the eye.

Each light has a white aluminium body with spring clips on its sides that hold it in place. The lights are dimmable and have no switch of their own, so they are switched at the wall. They run on mains power at 220-240V, and as a wired-in mains light they are installed by a qualified electrician; the installation instructions come as a download, and the packed set weighs 0.558KG. Each one needs a 6.8cm cut-out and a recess depth of 5.6cm, so measure the space behind your ceiling or cupboard base before you order.
