Description

The Kalique is a single glass pendant in the raindrop shape, a softly rounded drop that narrows into a tapered neck at the top rather than the rounder globe or the longer pointed teardrop in the same range. The glass is double-blown borosilicate, with a satin white inner and a light blue-tinted outer layer, so the bulb inside reads as a warm centre held in colour rather than a bare lamp. Lit, it gives a soft, cool-tinted glow; unlit, it hangs as a pale blue glass drop below a round chromed cap.

At 280mm across it is the larger of the two raindrop sizes, made to hold the eye on its own over a dining table or a kitchen island, or hung as a matched pair. The rounded drop and the clear cable keep the fitting light in a room, and because the outer glass is light blue it carries a pale blue tone into the space around it once the bulb is on.

The ceiling cap is a round chromed rose with a magnetic fixing and a clear PVC cable, and the shade is the double-blown borosilicate glass drop. It takes one E27 bulb up to 42W, which is not included, so we would fit an E27 LED at 3000K for a warm finish. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms and built to Class II, and dimming depends on the bulb fitted, so we would have an electrician make the connection.

What kind of light does the Kalique give?

A soft, contained glow. The satin white inner glass diffuses the bulb while the light blue outer layer adds a pale blue tone, so the source reads as a warm centre in coloured glass rather than a bright point. It works as a decorative drop over a surface.

Does it come with a bulb?

No. It takes one E27 bulb up to 42W, which is not supplied. We would fit an E27 LED at 3000K warm white so it lights the moment it is wired, and the standard E27 socket means the bulb can be swapped later.

Can it be dimmed?

Dimming depends on the bulb. The fitting itself is not dimmable, so it can be dimmed only by fitting a dimmable E27 lamp on a compatible dimmer. We can advise on a suitable bulb before you order.

How big is it and where does the raindrop shape suit?

The glass drop is 280mm across. At this size it suits a dining table, a kitchen island or a hallway on its own or as a pair, where the rounded raindrop form gives a soft central light.
