Description

The Kalique is a single glass pendant in the raindrop shape, a softly rounded drop that narrows into a tapered neck at the top rather than the rounder globe or the longer pointed teardrop in the same range. The glass is double-blown borosilicate, with a satin white inner and a smoke-grey mirrored outer skin, so the bulb inside reads as a warm centre held in colour rather than a bare lamp. Lit, it gives a gentle, shaded warm glow; unlit, it hangs as a soft grey mirror that picks up its surroundings below a round chromed cap.

At 180mm across it is the smaller raindrop, easy to repeat in a row or a cluster at staggered heights over an island or a stairwell, or to hang singly beside a bed or over a counter. The compact drop and the clear cable keep it quiet in a room, and the smoke outer glass lends a quiet smoked tone to the glow it throws.

The ceiling cap is a round chromed rose with a magnetic fixing and a clear PVC cable, and the shade is the double-blown borosilicate glass drop. It takes one E27 bulb up to 42W, which is not included, so we would fit an E27 LED at 3000K for a warm finish. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms and built to Class II, and dimming depends on the bulb fitted, so we would have an electrician make the connection.

What kind of light does the Kalique give?

A soft, contained glow. The satin white inner glass diffuses the bulb while the smoke outer layer adds a quiet smoked tone, so the source reads as a warm centre in coloured glass rather than a bright point. It works as a decorative drop over a surface.

Does it come with a bulb?

No. It takes one E27 bulb up to 42W, which is not supplied. We would fit an E27 LED at 3000K warm white so it lights the moment it is wired, and the standard E27 socket means the bulb can be swapped later.

Can it be dimmed?

Dimming depends on the bulb. The fitting itself is not dimmable, so it can be dimmed only by fitting a dimmable E27 lamp on a compatible dimmer. We can advise on a suitable bulb before you order.

How big is it and where does the raindrop shape suit?

The glass drop is 180mm across. At this smaller size it suits a bedside, a counter or a cluster over an island or stairwell, where the rounded raindrop form repeats well at staggered heights.
