Description

This birthday decoration is a little painted train: an engine and four wagons linked one behind another, with a bear driving the engine and a small animal riding each wagon beside a gift block tied with a painted ribbon. The paintwork is plain and multicoloured, with no pattern, so the animals and parcels do the talking. Three of the gift blocks carry a candle holder, and number pieces stand up on the engine and on a gift block, so the train can show which birthday it is. The whole train is 38cm long, 5cm wide and 11cm tall, which makes it a table decoration that sits among the place settings rather than a centrepiece that crowds the table.

Its natural place is the birthday table on the morning of a child's birthday, with candles lit in the holders for the moment everyone sings.
