Jormine Smoked Glass Linear Pendant Light - Black

The Jormine is a three-light linear pendant: a slim black steel bar sits across the ceiling and three smoked glass dome shades hang beneath it on slender black suspensions, each crowned with a black lampholder cap. It measures 90.5cm long, 20.5cm wide and 110cm high overall, so it spreads light along a table rather than pooling it in one spot. Each shade takes an E27 bulb of up to 60W, and the bulbs are not included, which leaves the colour and warmth of the light entirely your choice. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

It is at its best over a dining table: the long bar lines the three shades up along the table, so everyone seated shares the light. A kitchen island or a breakfast bar suits it in the same way. Smoked glass tints the light passing through it, so the shades look dark and sleek by day and give a softer, more muted glow by night. It suits anyone after a pared-back, monochrome look with a gentle industrial edge. Because it has no switch of its own and is switched at the wall, it answers to the light switch you already use.

The body is steel in a black finish, and the vaporised glass shades are black-transparent: dark at a glance, yet clear enough to show the bulb inside. A clear filament bulb therefore makes the most of them. It runs on 220 to 240V at 50/60Hz and weighs 3.018KG packed. As a mains light wired into the ceiling, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. When you buy bulbs, choose three E27 bulbs of 60W or less, one for each shade.
