Description
The JCB 4.9W LED golf ball bulb is a compact 45mm diameter LED fitted with an E14 small Edison screw base, producing 470 lumens of 3000K warm white light. The bulb draws 4.9W on 220-240V mains and replaces traditional 40W incandescent golf balls in chandeliers, wall sconces, bedside lamps and decorative ceiling fittings where the bulb is visible or semi-enclosed.
Designed for residential and hospitality lighting where warm ambient light is needed in smaller fittings, the 3000K colour temperature produces a soft yellow-white glow comparable to traditional tungsten bulbs. The 180-degree beam angle provides omnidirectional coverage, spreading light evenly through fabric shades, glass globes and open decorative cages. The non-dimmable driver provides stable output without flicker, making the bulb suitable for bedrooms, dining rooms and living spaces where steady light is preferred over adjustable brightness.
The golf ball shape measures 45mm wide by 78mm tall, fitting inside tight lamp shades and narrow sconce housings where standard A-shaped bulbs cannot fit. The frosted polycarbonate diffuser hides the internal LED chip arrangement when the bulb is off and softens the light output when on, avoiding harsh point-source glare. JCB rates the bulb for 10,000 hours of operation, equivalent to approximately 10 years of typical domestic use at 3 hours per day. The bulb carries an Energy Rating of F under the revised UK energy label scale introduced in 2021.

Frequently Asked
What does 470 lumens compare to in old bulb terms?
470 lumens is approximately equivalent to a 40W incandescent bulb. This makes the JCB 4.9W LED a direct energy-saving replacement for traditional 40W golf ball bulbs in chandeliers and decorative fittings.
Can this bulb be used in enclosed fittings?
Yes. The bulb is rated for use in semi-enclosed and fully enclosed fittings including glass globe ceiling lights and enclosed bedside lamp shades. The low heat output of the LED allows safe operation in confined spaces where halogen bulbs would overheat.
Is this bulb compatible with dimmer switches?
No. This is a non-dimmable LED bulb. Attempting to use it with a dimmer switch may cause flickering, buzzing or premature failure. For dimmable E14 golf ball bulbs, see the separate dimmable range in the LED Bulbs section.
What's the colour of the light output?
The 3000K colour temperature produces a warm white light with a soft yellow tone, similar to traditional incandescent bulbs. This is warmer than daylight-toned LEDs rated at 4000K or 6500K, and suits living spaces where a cosy atmosphere is preferred.
