A golf ball LED with a small Edison screw cap, this bulb draws 4.9W and gives 470 lumens, which the retail pack sets against a 40W replacement. The light is 4000K cool white: a clean, neutral brightness with none of the yellow cast of an old filament bulb. The frosted envelope spreads light over a 180 degree beam, so the bulb lights a room rather than throwing a spot, and its rounded shape sits neatly inside small shades where a full size GLS bulb would press against the fabric.

E14 is the smaller of the two screw caps used in UK homes, and it turns up in chandeliers, small pendants, wall lights, bedside lamps and plenty of flat pack floor lamps. How do I know my fitting takes an E14 cap?

Can I put this on a dimmer switch?
