B15 (SBC) LED Golf Bulb 4.9W 470lm - Warm White 3000K - JCB

This is a golf ball LED bulb on a B15 small bayonet cap, drawing 4.9W and giving 470 lumens of warm white light at 3000K. Golf is the compact round shape, smaller than a standard GLS, and the opal white body diffuses the light rather than showing the diodes behind it. The cap, often written SBC, is the 15mm bayonet with two side pins that pushes in and turns a quarter. It is not the 22mm B22 cap found on most ceiling pendants, so check the old bulb before ordering. The pack gives it as a 40W replacement.

Small bayonet caps turn up most often on bedside and table lamps, wall lights, picture lights and smaller pendant shades. 470 lumens suits a lamp you sit beside rather than the single source lighting a whole room, and 3000K is warm without tipping into amber, so it sits happily alongside older tungsten bulbs elsewhere in the same room. How do I know if my lamp takes a B15 cap?

Look at the old bulb. A B15 cap is a smooth metal barrel about 15mm across with two small pins on the sides, pushed in and twisted a quarter turn. The wider 22mm version with the same pins is B22 and will not fit.

How bright is 470 lumens in practice?

The pack gives it as a 40W replacement, so it is a comfortable output for a table lamp, bedside lamp or wall light rather than a bulb meant to light a whole room on its own.

Can I put it on a dimmer switch?

No. The specification records it as non dimmable, so use a standard on and off switch. A non dimmable LED run on a dimmer circuit may flicker, buzz or fail early.

What does 3000K warm white actually look like?

It is a soft, slightly yellow white, close to the tone of an old tungsten bulb and warmer than the 4000K cool white or 6500K daylight versions. It flatters wood, warm paint colours and skin tones.

Will it fit inside a small clip-on shade?

The pack prints the bulb as 45mm across and 80mm long, so measure the inside of the shade or the gap above the lampholder against those figures before ordering.

Does it reach full brightness straight away?

Yes. The pack marks it as instant on, so there is none of the slow warm up period that older compact fluorescent lamps needed before they reached full output.
