Description

This is the standard household bulb shape, a GLS, in LED form with an E27 screw cap. It draws 4.9W and puts out 470 lumens at 3000K, which the pack gives as the replacement for an old 40W incandescent. The body is white rather than clear, and the light leaves it over a 180 degree spread, so it fills a shade evenly instead of throwing a narrow beam. JCB prints a 10,000 hour life on the box and rates it at up to 10 years.

E27 is the larger of the two screw caps in common UK use, and the 27 is the thread diameter in millimetres. It is what most pendant fittings, standard table lamps and floor lamps take. If the bulb you are replacing has two pins on the side of its cap, that is a bayonet fitting and this one will not go in. At 470 lumens the output is gentle rather than fierce, which suits a bedside lamp, a hall pendant, a landing fitting, or a pair of lamps sharing the work in a sitting room. The 3000K warm white keeps creams, woods and warm paint colours looking warm rather than clinical.
