E27 (ES) LED Candle Bulb 4.9W 470lm - Warm White 3000K

This is a candle bulb on an E27 screw cap, and that is the detail worth checking first: most candle lamps take the smaller E14, so the larger ES thread here belongs to fittings built around a standard screw socket. It draws 4.9W, gives 470 lumens, and the retail pack states it as a 40W replacement. The body is a smooth opal white rather than clear glass, so the diodes inside are diffused into an even glow, with a plain silver cap below.

Candle bulbs earn their place where the lamp is on show: wall lights, small chandeliers, pendant clusters and table lamps with a narrow shade carrier. The tapered top keeps the bulb within the line of a slim shade instead of poking above it. At 3000K the light is a warm white, the softer end of what most people fit indoors, and it flatters wood, brick and warm paint in a sitting room, hallway or bedroom. The 180 degree beam spreads light forwards and out to the sides rather than back past the cap.

There is no dimming: the specification lists the bulb as non-dimmable, so give it a plain on-off switch and keep it off a dimmer circuit, where a non-dimming lamp can flicker or buzz. Will this fit my light, and how do I check?

It has an E27 screw cap, the larger of the two common screw sizes, so the thread on the old bulb should measure about 27mm across. Many candle lamps use the smaller E14, so check before ordering.

How bright is it next to the bulb I am replacing?

It puts out 470 lumens, and the pack states it as a 40W replacement, so it should read much like a traditional 40W candle lamp in the same shade or fitting.

Can I put it on a dimmer switch?
