Description

A golf bulb is the small round lamp that sits between a candle and a full-size GLS, and this JCB one draws 3W of LED to give 250 lumens. The cap is E14, the narrow screw thread UK trade lists also call SES, so check that the lamp you are replacing has a slim screw base rather than a wider E27 thread or a push-and-twist bayonet. The finish is plain opal white, and the pack gives the bulb as 45mm across and 80mm tall. Light spreads over 180 degrees, a broad wash rather than a directed beam.

At 250 lumens the output is gentle, equal to the 25W filament lamp the pack says it replaces. That suits fittings where several lamps share the work, such as a multi-arm chandelier or a pendant cluster, and places wanting presence rather than brightness: a bedside lamp, a hall pendant, a wall light, the small shades on a dining fitting.
