A 14W LED GLS bulb from JCB on an E27 Edison screw cap: the rounded, everyday bulb shape most people picture when they think of a light bulb. E27 is the larger of the two screw caps common in the UK, so check the base of the old bulb before ordering: a narrower thread is E14 and will not fit. This one suits kitchen pendants, hallway and landing fittings, utility rooms, garages, and floor or table lamps with a screw lampholder. What does 4000K cool white actually look like?

Can I put it on a dimmer switch?

No. The specification gives it as non-dimmable, so use a standard on/off switch. Fitted to a dimmer it may flicker, hum or fail to strike, and the circuit will not control it smoothly.

Does the wide beam angle matter for my shade?

At 180 degrees the output goes sideways as well as downward, so it fills an open or translucent shade evenly. In a deep metal shade most of that side light stays inside the shade.
