The Jam flush ceiling light is a clear glass jam jar, screw-top lid and all, fixed close to the ceiling on a round ceiling plate. It holds a single bulb inside the glass, so the bulb you choose becomes part of the look, glowing through the jar's clear sides. Made from brass, steel and glass, it comes in three finishes: Antique Silver, Antique Brass and Satin Brass. It is 24cm tall and 10cm across, a compact size that sits neatly on a ceiling without taking over the room.

A flush fitting suits a hallway well, where a pendant could hang too low and a plain ceiling light can feel like an afterthought. The jar keeps its light close to the ceiling and gives a hallway a friendly, homely point of interest from the moment you come through the door. Choose Satin Brass for a brighter, warmer metal, Antique Brass for a darker, aged look, or Antique Silver for a cooler, quieter tone. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

Every Jam light is made to order for you in Ireland. Bulbs are sold separately: it takes 1 x E27 bulb, up to 40W per bulb, which sits inside the jar in full view, so choose one you enjoy looking at. The light is wired in to the mains, so it is for a qualified electrician to install. The maker guarantees the fittings it makes for five years from the date of purchase, and bulbs are not covered. One practical note before you order: at 24cm tall, it is worth measuring your hallway ceiling so you know the headroom left underneath.
