Description
The Knightsbridge IP66 13A switched fused spur is a weatherproof outdoor electrical control unit with a neon indicator visible through the transparent hinged lid, allowing users to confirm power status without opening the enclosure. The unit is built from high-impact polycarbonate with a black finish and a smoked black front casing that protects the neon while maintaining visibility.
Designed for controlling fixed outdoor electrical installations such as garden lighting, pond pumps, hot tubs, outdoor heaters and security lighting, the fused spur allows an appliance to be isolated at the point of use without returning to the consumer unit. The IP66 rating provides protection against powerful water jets and complete dust ingress, making the unit suitable for exposed wall mounting in gardens, driveways, patios and commercial outdoor areas. The IK06 impact rating gives additional protection against mechanical impacts.
The transparent lid incorporates a large catch mechanism and can be held open during wiring or fuse replacement, reducing the need to prop it manually. Multiple 20mm cable entry and exit points allow the incoming and outgoing cables to be routed from the side, top or bottom depending on the installation position. The internal cable channels and casing depth accommodate thick over-moulded strain reliefs commonly found on outdoor-rated appliance cables and plugs. The unit is certified to BS 1363-4 and includes an earth terminal for Class I installation.

Frequently Asked
What does IP66 mean and where can this be used?
IP66 means the unit is fully dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets from any direction. It can be installed on external walls exposed to rain, in car washes, poolside areas, and anywhere subject to hose-down cleaning. It is not suitable for permanent submersion.
Can the power status be seen without opening the lid?
Yes. The neon indicator is visible through the transparent smoked black lid, allowing you to confirm whether the circuit is live without opening the enclosure and exposing the internals to weather.
What size cable entries does it have?
The enclosure provides multiple 20mm cable entry and exit points, positioned to allow cables to be routed from the side, top or bottom depending on the mounting location and cable run.
Does it require an earth connection?
Yes. The unit is Class I and includes an earth terminal. An earth connection is required for safe installation and to comply with BS 1363-4 certification.
