Description

The Knightsbridge OS001 is a mains-powered PIR motion sensor rated IP55 for exterior and damp-location use, with a 200° horizontal detection field and a 12m range when mounted at 2.4m height. The sensor head sits in an adjustable housing that rotates and tilts, allowing the detection zone to be aimed after installation to cover doorways, paths, driveways or covered outdoor areas.

Designed for automatic lighting control in commercial, residential and public installations, the sensor switches mains-voltage lighting on when motion is detected within its field and switches it off after a user-adjustable delay of 3 seconds to 30 minutes. The sensor head mounts to a rear plate via a click-fit fixing, allowing the unit to be wired at the back plate then snapped into place without re-handling cables. Wall, ceiling and corner mounting options are supported using the same back plate.

The polycarbonate and ABS housing carries an IP55 rating, protecting the internals against low-pressure water jets and dust ingress. The sensor supports a maximum switching load of 2000W for incandescent lamps or 225W for LED loads, and multiple sensors can be wired in parallel to control the same lighting circuit from different detection zones. A manual override function allows the sensor to be forced on or off independent of motion detection, and an adjustable lux threshold prevents the sensor triggering in daylight.

A shrouding kit is included in the box, consisting of clip-on masks that block portions of the detection field where motion should be ignored—useful when the sensor sits near a road or public footpath and needs to ignore passing pedestrians while still covering a driveway or entrance.

What's the maximum range and detection angle?

The sensor detects motion across a 200° horizontal field with a maximum range of 12m when mounted at the recommended 2.4m height. Detection range reduces if mounted lower or higher than 2.4m, or if the head is angled downward.

Can it be used outdoors?

Yes. The IP55 rating protects against low-pressure water jets and dust, making it suitable for covered outdoor areas, porch ceilings, external walls under eaves, and damp locations. It is not rated for full immersion or sustained exposure to direct rain without cover.

How is the time delay adjusted?

A dial on the sensor body adjusts the on-time from 3 seconds to 30 minutes. The sensor will hold the load on for the set duration after the last motion detection, then switch off if no further motion is detected.

What's the maximum load it can switch?

The sensor supports up to 2000W for incandescent or halogen lamps, or 225W for LED loads. Exceeding the LED load rating can cause premature relay failure or intermittent switching.
