Description

The Inkollu is a wire storage stand 100cm tall on a footprint of 28cm. Three round wire baskets sit in the frame one above another, the smallest at the top and the widest at the bottom, each built from close set vertical wires over a woven floor. The frame is three round rods that curve in to meet at the top, where a small squared loop is fixed across them, and splay out at the bottom to disc feet. The iron is finished in aged brass and left matt rather than polished, so the colour reads warm brown in the hollows and lighter along the high points of the wire.

At 100cm the top basket stands at about worktop height and the bottom one sits close to the floor, so a run of fruit and vegetables goes in one column instead of spread across a counter. It stands on the floor against a wall, and the middle basket takes eggs and the bottom one greens. It suits a kitchen or a larder, where floor space is usually easier to find than surface, and at 28cm across it takes a narrow gap between units.

The stand is iron, shaped and joined from wire by hand with traditional tools. It arrives in four parts, the frame and the three baskets, and the baskets attach to the frame. It is foodsafe. The Inkollu range runs through dish racks, a spice rack, a toast rack, a cutlery holder, wall hung baskets and a cake stand, all in the same aged brass.
