Description

A floor standing wire rack 76cm tall, 46cm wide and 25cm deep, holding three open baskets. The frame is two flat side frames of round iron rod joined front and back, and the uprights carry on above the top basket to finish in a pair of rounded rails. Each basket is built from close set vertical wires braced with horizontals, with sides that taper in towards the base and a raised edge all the way round. The finish is a dark antiqued brass, nearer bronze than a polished yellow, and the whole stand sits on four small round feet.

The baskets are open on every face, so what is in them stays visible and air moves through. Apples, onions and citrus take a basket each. At 25cm deep it takes little floor space and will stand in the gap beside a unit, and because it is open on all four sides it works away from a wall as readily as against one.

The frame is iron wire shaped by hand, then powder coated in antiqued brass. The wire work is done by family workshops where the skill has passed down through generations. The stand weighs 4.1kg empty. The Inkollu range also runs to dish racks, a spice rack, wall hung baskets, a cake stand, a cutlery holder, a toast rack and a taller three tier stand.
