Description

The Indore caddy is a three shelf stand, 82cm tall, 33cm wide and 23cm deep, built as an iron frame with a mango wood base to each shelf. The front legs stand close to upright and the back pair rake away behind them to a rail across the top, so the whole frame leans. Each shelf carries a low gallery of horizontal iron bars round it, and the pale wood of the bases reads against the dark iron. Small flat pads sit under the feet.

At 82cm it stands to about the height of a basin, which brings the top shelf to hand without bending. It is 33cm wide and only 23cm deep, so it takes the narrow strip of floor beside a bath, between a basin and a wall, or in the return of a shower recess. In a bathroom it holds a pump bottle, folded flannels, a sponge and a candle, one group to each shelf. The galleries stop a bottle or a jar sliding off if the caddy is knocked.

The frame is iron, given an aged brass tone, and the base of each shelf is mango wood left in its natural colour. The whole stand weighs 4.03kg. The Indore range is built the same way and also holds a wall shelf and a bath bridge, both in the same aged brass.
