Description

The large Imay nutcracker stands 39cm tall on a round base 12cm across, thirteen centimetres taller than the small one and nearly three times its weight at 0.9kg. The proportions are the same: a cylindrical body, the arms held in at the sides, a square hat, and the face, the buttons and the boots raised out of the iron.

Thirty-nine centimetres is hearth or mantel-end scale, and at that height the figure reads from the doorway rather than only from the shelf it stands on. It stands beside the 26cm one on the same shelf. It needs nothing to hold it up.

The metal is iron under an antique brass finish, cut and finished by hand, so the detail comes out slightly differently on every one. A 26cm Imay nutcracker is made as well, and a pair of 13cm hanging ones.
