Description

The Ilcoso is a soap dispenser: a straight sided cylinder of recycled glass, 13cm tall and 7.5cm across, under a brass pump with a curved spout and a ribbed collar. The glass is hammered, so the wall is dimpled the whole way round rather than smooth, with small bubbles caught through it. The pump is finished to look antique rather than bright.

At 13cm tall and 7.5cm across it takes very little room on a shelf or a basin surround. It was made for a bathroom, and a glass storage pot is made in the same range. Because the glass is hammered and clear, what is inside shows through as a soft shape rather than a sharp line, so the level can be read without being on display.

The glass is recycled and blown by hand, shaped and then given its hammered texture, so the dimpling, the thickness of the wall and the run of the bubbles differ from one dispenser to the next. The pump is brass. The Ilcoso range runs to three pieces, a soap dispenser, a soap dish and a storage pot, and each is made in clear, amber and green.

Frequently Asked

How big is it?

Is the glass recycled?

Yes. Each one is blown by hand from recycled glass.

What is the pump made of?

Brass, finished to look antique.

Will every one look the same?

Not exactly. The hammering and the bubbles come out of the blowing, so the surface differs on every one.

How do I look after it?

Use a mild detergent and do not leave it to soak. Handle it with care.
