Description
A freestanding shelving unit in reclaimed wood, 170cm high, 90cm wide and 35cm deep. Two pairs of full height posts carry five boards between them, giving a top surface and four open bays below it. There is no back and no sides, so the unit is open right through and whatever stands on it is seen from either direction. The wood is pale and weathered, grey brown where it has aged, and the saw marks, splits and old fixing holes are left in the grain.
At 170cm it stands to about head height, and at 90cm wide the boards are long enough to take baskets side by side rather than one at a time. The bays are evenly spaced and open front and back, which suits stacked plates, folded linen or a row of jars as readily as anything tall. It works in a pantry, in a utility room or against a kitchen wall. Indoor use only.
The wood is reclaimed. Every board began as a panel on the side of an Indian truck and has been cut, carved and assembled by hand, so the tone of the wood, the roughness of the surface and the run of the splits differ from one unit to the next. At 48kg it is a substantial piece. The Ibo range also runs to tables, cabinets, sideboards, benches and stools in the same wood.

Frequently Asked
How big is the unit?
170cm high, 90cm wide and 35cm deep.
How many shelves are there?
Four, below a top surface, making four open bays.
Is there a back to it?
No. It is open front and back, with no back panel and no sides.
What is it made from?
Reclaimed wood. Every board was once a panel on the side of an Indian truck.
Can it go outside?
No. Indoor use only.
How should it be looked after?
Wipe surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth. Mild soap and water can be used without excess water, always working with the grain and taking extra care over the rough patches, which can splinter. Use coasters and mats, mop up spills straight away and dry the surface, and keep harsh chemicals and abrasive materials away.
