The Hirnette is a round LED flush ceiling light in white with a crisp black trim ring, 34cm across and only 6.5cm deep, so it sits close to the ceiling and keeps a low room feeling open. A white steel body carries a white plastic diffuser, and the integrated LEDs draw 18W to give 2,250lm of even light, so there is never a bulb to buy or change. Its IP54 rating means it is protected from dust and splashing water, and that settles the big question: it can go outdoors under a porch or canopy as well as indoors.

We like it most where a plain, bright light has to cope with damp air or a sheltered outdoor spot. Under a porch or a covered terrace it lights the way to the door after dark, and it is a good choice for a bathroom too, where a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone.
