Description

The Hilorne is a pendant light with a tall, open wire cage shade in steel, finished black with copper on the inner face of the wires. The cage is a slim cylinder with a rounded, domed top, hung from a black cord and a black ceiling rose, with a black lampholder at the top of the cage. It measures 110cm tall overall and 13cm in diameter. The holder takes an E27 bulb up to a maximum of 60W, and the bulb is not included, so the choice of light is yours. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.

We like it most where space is tight. At only 13cm across, the Hilorne pendant light hangs neatly beside a bed in place of a bedside lamp, freeing the table top, or lights a hallway or landing where a wide shade would crowd the ceiling. Hung in a row, it gives a clean, repeated line of black and copper above a dining table. Because the cage is open, the bulb itself is part of the look, so a clear filament-style E27 bulb shows off the wire work well. The black and copper finish sits comfortably with warm wood, cream fabrics and dark metal alike.

The body is steel in black and copper, and the packed weight is 0.989KG. There is no switch of its own: it is switched at the wall, so it works from the light switch you already have. It is made for a 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains supply and, as a wired-in ceiling light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician. The installation instructions are available as a download, so your electrician can read them beforehand. When you choose a bulb, keep within the 60W maximum the holder allows; a low-wattage LED E27 bulb sits comfortably inside that limit.
