Description
This solar powered lantern takes the shape of a shaggy Highland cow in blue denim dungarees, leaning against a tree trunk that rises into a black, clear-panelled lantern with a spiral light inside. He stands 43.5cm tall, 16cm wide and 14cm deep, with long curved horns, a thick fringe of brown fur and a crown of pink and cream blossoms tucked between his ears. In one hoof he holds a round wood-effect sign that reads "Welcome to my Garden", with a red ladybird resting on top, while a little yellow bird perches on the other and a blue bird sits on a branch of the trunk.
Brown is the main colour, so he sits comfortably among natural wood, warm neutrals and country prints. We see him on a hallway console, a living room shelf, a bookcase or a deep windowsill, where his sign and colourful flowers give anyone coming through the door a friendly hello. As he carries no rating for damp or outdoor conditions, we suggest him for dry rooms indoors. He suits a home with a soft spot for country style and farmyard characters, and his cheerful face makes him an easy gift to choose.
The lantern is finished all the way round: the back of the trunk carries textured bark and roots that spread across the base, so he looks just as good from the side or behind. A grassy base dotted with flowers, stones and a little pail gives him a broad, flat footing to stand on a shelf or table. Being solar powered, he needs no plug or cable. To keep him at his best, dust him with a soft dry cloth and keep him away from water. Set him where the light catches his clear panels and he will greet everyone who passes.
