Description

This Highland cow couple figurine brings together two shaggy cows leaning over a rustic fence, with a heart that reads LOVE in bold white letters. One wears a crown of pink and red roses with green leaves, the other a big pink bow between the horns, and the pair lean in cheek to cheek. Their warm brown coats are sculpted strand by strand, with cream-tipped horns, pink noses and little dark hooves resting on the top rail. Made from polystone resin, it stands 15cm tall, 15cm wide and 7.5cm deep, a size that sits happily on a shelf or a bedside table without crowding it.

We think it makes a cheerful Valentine's Day gift, the kind of small token that says plenty without a card having to do all the work. The brown and pink palette sits well in a bedroom, on a dressing table or along a mantelpiece, and it brings a smile to a kitchen windowsill or an office desk. Because it is only 7.5cm deep, it fits on narrow shelves and ledges where a bulkier ornament would not, and the flat grassy base keeps it steady wherever it goes.

The figurine is finished all the way round, with the cows' shaggy backs and tails sculpted behind the fence, so it looks just as good from the side or set where the back is on view. The fence carries modelled wood grain and grey nail heads, and tufts of grass rise around the base. To keep the colours fresh, dust it with a soft dry cloth now and then and keep it away from water. For a Valentine's surprise, tuck it into tissue paper in a gift box, or set it beside a breakfast tray on the morning itself.
