Hayes Cable Grip 14mm - White

This is a compression grip for pendant flex, supplied as a pack of five in white. Each one has a slim barrel and a collar that screws down to pinch the cable, so a drop stays exactly at the length you set it and does not creep under the weight of a shade. At 14mm across it is a discreet little piece of hardware, and because the white runs right through the pack it sits quietly against a pale ceiling rather than drawing the eye.

Ours go out mostly to people building or reworking a pendant: a single shade over a dining table, a trio of drops along a kitchen island, or a rewired flex that needs holding at a set height. It suits anyone who wants the cable to hang cleanly and stay put, and it is the sort of small part that makes a home made light look finished rather than improvised. There is nothing electrical about it, so it takes no lamp of its own; the light comes from whatever fitting the flex belongs to.

The parts thread together simply, the collar doing all the work with no tools needed beyond a firm hand. Keep it looking right by wiping the barrel with a slightly damp cloth now and then, and give the collar a quick check for tightness if the flex has been knocked or the shade changed. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same pack in black and in clear for darker flex or for a look that all but vanishes, and if you would rather see metal at the top of a drop we also keep the metal grip kits in finishes from matt white and polished chrome through to antique brass and gilt bronze. Flex is not included.

How wide and how tall is each grip?

Each grip is 14mm in diameter and 38mm tall, so it reads as a neat collar at the top of a flex rather than a visible component.

How many are in the pack?

Five, which covers a cluster of three drops with a couple spare, or five separate single pendants.

Is it an electrical item?

No. It is a non-electrical grip that holds and secures flex; any wiring and lamp choice belongs to the light fitting itself.

Will it hold the cable without slipping?

Yes. The collar compresses onto the flex as it is tightened, which is what stops a shade pulling the drop longer over time.

How do I clean it?

A cloth barely dampened with water is enough. Avoid solvents and abrasive creams, as they will dull the white finish.

Does it come in other colours?

We stock the same compression pack in black and clear, and there is a separate metal grip kit if you want a brass, chrome, nickel or bronze finish instead.
