Cable grips are one of those quiet parts that decide whether a run of pendants looks considered or accidental. This is a compression grip with a clear moulded body: the halves draw together and pinch the flex, so the length you set is the length that stays. Each pack holds five, enough for a row above an island or a spare or two put by for later. Nothing about it is electrical; the work is purely mechanical, which is to hold the cable, take the strain and stay out of the way.

We reach for the clear one where the flex is white, grey or translucent and we would rather the grip vanished than announced itself. It suits kitchens, dining rooms, hallways and stairwells, and it earns its keep in a shop or studio where a group of pendants hangs at staggered heights and each one needs to hold its own drop.
