Haussmann is a full length mirror 97cm wide and 175cm tall, a rectangular mirror in a moulded frame with a scrolled crest above it. The crest is a separate ornament sitting on top of the frame, which is why the outline is irregular rather than a plain rectangle. The mirror opening itself is square topped.

This is the most decorated piece in the range and it is doing a specific job: it gives a plain room the kind of overmantel presence a period property would have had. It suits a chimney breast or the end of a hall, where the crest has ceiling height above it to be seen against. The glass is partly transparent, so the wall reads through it in places and the mirror sits softer than a fully silvered one would. It hangs one way up, for obvious reasons. It is not rated for a bathroom. At 20kg and 175cm tall it wants two people.

The frame is moulded and the glass is partly transparent mirrored and printed, which is why the reflection is gentler than plain mirror. Dust the moulding dry and clean the glass with cleaner sprayed onto a cloth, keeping damp out of the crest, where the detail is finest and where a wet cloth will leave water in the recesses. Nothing needs assembling. Two screws, washers and plugs come with it, and a mirror of this weight wants them into something solid rather than into plasterboard alone. The frame is the widest in this part of the range, so allow for it when measuring: the mirror opening is a good deal smaller than the overall size given below.
