Description
Harrison is a round wall clock with a lion's face worked into the dial. Two eyes glance sideways, long whiskers stretch out towards the edge, a small tufted beard sits under the chin, and the hands turn from the centre of the lion's nose. The outer ring is drawn as a mane of fine radiating lines. Only the 12, 3, 6 and 9 are marked, which keeps the face graphic and calm rather than busy. At 23cm across it is a modest size for a wall clock, easy to place on a smaller stretch of wall. This brown wall clock is made from MDF, iron and polypropylene.
We see it most at home in a nursery, a child's bedroom or a playroom, where the lion gives the wall a friendly face. Its layered brown tones are soft enough to settle into bright schemes and muted ones alike, and it sits happily beside woven, wooden and animal pieces. With the four main numbers set out at the quarters, it gives you an easy starting point for talking about o'clock, quarter past, half past and quarter to with a child who is beginning to read the time. It also makes a thoughtful gift for a new room.
MDF is a smooth, dense board and a good surface for crisp printed detail, and here it carries every whisker and mane line. The clock weighs 0.31KG. The maker's assembly instructions come as a PDF download, so you can read through the fitting before it goes on the wall. MDF is best dusted with a soft, dry cloth, as the board does not take well to soaking. The styling props shown are not included. For a styling note, hang it where a child can see it from the bed or the play mat. Give the lion's mane natural textures for company, such as woven grass, rattan or raw wood.
