Description

The Hanoi is a flush ceiling light with one cone of clear ribbed glass hung beneath a round ceiling plate. Fine ribs run from the narrow neck down to the wide rim, and when the bulb is on every rib picks up the light, so the shade glows along its whole length. It is 20cm tall and 30cm across, a neat size that keeps the glass close to the ceiling. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately, which leaves the choice of bulb to you. It comes in six finishes: Antique Brass, Antique Silver, Polished Brass, Polished Chrome, Polished Copper and Satin Brass.

A hallway is a natural home for the Hanoi. Because it sits flush to the ceiling rather than hanging on a drop, it suits a passage where people walk straight under the light, and the ribbed glass gives a hallway a touch of character from the moment you open the front door. The antique finishes have an aged look that sits well in an older house, while the polished finishes look bright and crisp against plain painted walls. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It runs on the mains and is wired in by a qualified electrician.

Every Hanoi is made to order for you in Ireland, with a brass body and a glass shade, so the metal is brass whichever finish you choose. Satin Brass sits between the polished and antique finishes, with a softer sheen than Polished Brass. The fitting is a single light, so where a long hallway needs more light, two or three spaced along the ceiling share the work. The maker guarantees the fittings it makes for five years from the date of purchase; bulbs are not covered. Our photographs show the Polished Brass, Antique Brass, Antique Silver, Polished Chrome, Polished Copper and Satin Brass finishes.
