Description
This is a rectangular velvet cushion carrying a row of cats dressed for Halloween, each in its own costume, from a bandaged mummy cat to one in a witch's hat and another wrapped around a pumpkin. Above them sits the words “Happy Halloween” in gold embroidery, strung like bunting between two loops and scattered through with embroidered gold, white and pink stars. The ground is a deep charcoal grey and the whole face is worked in soft velvet, measuring 30 by 50cm, which is the long, low bolster shape that sits well at the front of a bank of larger cushions.
A seasonal cushion like this earns its place on a sofa, an armchair or the end of a bed through October, and the horizontal format means it reads clearly along the back of a settee where the printed cats can all be seen. The charcoal ground is dark enough to sit against most upholstery without fighting it, and the gold trim picks up warm metallics elsewhere in a room. When the season passes it stores flat and comes back out the following year, so it is worth a proper look at how the print and embroidery are finished before it goes away.
The face and the reverse are both velvet, giving the cushion the soft, slightly brushed handle that velvet is known for. The reverse is plain, in the warm ochre-gold you can see on the piped trim, so the cushion works either way round. That piped edge runs all the way round the seam, and a zip closure lets you take the cover off the pad. It is made entirely from polyester, which holds colour well and resists creasing, so the embroidered detail and the printed cats stay crisp. If you like the playful, illustrative look, it sits happily among other novelty and seasonal cushions rather than a strictly plain scheme.

Frequently Asked
Is the cover removable?
Yes. It has a zip closure along one seam, so you can take the cover off the inner pad whenever you need to.
What is the cushion made from?
The face and reverse are both velvet, made entirely from polyester, which gives it a soft, brushed handle and holds its colour well.
Is the reverse patterned too?
No. The reverse is a plain warm ochre-gold velvet, the same tone as the piped trim, so the cushion looks tidy either way round.
What size is it and where does it suit?
It measures 30 by 50cm, a long low shape that works well laid across the front of larger cushions on a sofa or bed.
How are the gold details made?
The lettering, the stars and the bunting are worked in gold embroidery, so the metallic detail is stitched into the velvet rather than printed on.
