Description
The Hadithi is a low armchair, 80cm tall, 58cm wide and 70cm deep, built on a slim iron frame. The back is a plain leather-covered panel, piped round its edge and hung between two rear legs that rake backwards. The seat is a separate leather cushion, ribbed across its face in a run of parallel channels. On each side a single iron tube sweeps up from the front leg, over as an arm and back into the rear frame, and the length of tube the hand falls on is wrapped in leather. The hide is burnished rather than laid on flat, so the tone is lighter across the open face of the back and deeper at the seams and the edges.
The seat sits 48cm from the floor, 54cm across and 47cm deep, which is an upright seat rather than a low lounging one. The frame is thin and the space beneath the seat is open, so the chair can stand away from a wall and be seen from behind. It weighs 12.5kg.
The leather is buffalo and comes as a by-product of buffalo farming, from herds kept by local herdsmen, and the chair is upholstered by hand. The frame is iron and reads dark bronze rather than black. Because the hide is burnished, the depth of colour differs from chair to chair and across a single panel.

Frequently Asked
How high is the seat?
48cm from the floor, 54cm across and 47cm deep.
How big is the chair?
80cm tall, 58cm wide and 70cm deep, and it weighs 12.5kg.
What leather is it?
Buffalo leather, a by-product of buffalo farming, upholstered by hand.
Does it have arms?
Yes. Each arm is a single iron tube running from the front leg back into the frame, wrapped in leather where the hand rests.
How do I look after the leather?
Wipe it down gently with a soft dry or microfibre cloth at least once a week, as dust and dirt settle into the pores. Blot spills at once with a dry cloth and use a slightly damp one for anything sticky, but do not scrub. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat, which can fade, dry and crack the leather, and never use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. A leather conditioner can be applied, tested first on a hidden area.
