Description
This Knightsbridge GU10 wall light combines a cylindrical 304 stainless steel housing with an integrated PIR motion sensor, designed for outdoor installation on exterior walls, porches, doorways and garden pathways. The fitting takes a single GU10 bulb up to 35W (sold separately), compatible with both halogen and LED retrofit lamps, and carries an IP44 weatherproof rating for protection against rain and splashing.
The PIR sensor detects movement up to 8 metres away when mounted at 2.4m height, with a 110-degree horizontal detection angle. Three adjustable settings on the sensor allow control of brightness threshold (so the light activates only after dusk), sensitivity (to avoid triggering from small animals or wind-blown debris), and illumination time (how long the light stays on after detection, typically 10 seconds to 5 minutes). A manual override facility allows the light to be switched on independently of motion detection when needed.
The 60mm diameter cylindrical body projects 112mm from the wall and sits on a rectangular mounting backplate with visible fixing screws. The 304-grade stainless steel finish provides corrosion resistance in coastal and high-humidity environments and weathers to a natural patina over time. The downward-firing lamp creates a focused pool of light on the ground directly below the fitting, making it functional for doorstep illumination rather than broad wash lighting across a facade.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take and is one included?
The fitting takes a single GU10 bulb up to 35W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 5-7W LED GU10 in warm white (2700K-3000K) for adequate doorstep illumination without excessive glare.
How is the PIR sensor adjusted?
The sensor has three adjustment dials: brightness threshold (lux setting, determines the ambient light level at which the sensor activates), sensitivity (range adjustment), and illumination time (duration the light stays on after detecting motion). Refer to the product manual in Downloads for specific dial positions.
What is the detection range and angle?
The PIR detects movement up to 8 metres away when mounted at 2.4m height, with a 110-degree horizontal detection angle. Actual range varies depending on the size and speed of the moving object and environmental factors like temperature contrast.
Can the light be left on continuously without the PIR?
Yes. The fitting includes a manual override facility that allows the light to be switched on independently of motion detection. This is useful when you need continuous lighting for an event or outdoor activity.
