Description

This GU10 lamp holder uses a ceramic body with a brass contact spring at the centre, designed to accept standard GU10 twist-and-lock LED, halogen or CFL bulbs. The holder comes pre-wired with two 90mm heat-resistant fly leads rated at 0.5mm² cross-sectional area, allowing connection to mains supply cable or terminal blocks inside a ceiling rose or downlight housing.

Designed for installation into recessed downlights, spotlight tracks and surface-mounted GU10 fittings, the ceramic construction handles the sustained heat output from halogen GU10 bulbs without warping or discolouring. The 90mm lead length gives enough cable to reach terminal blocks in most standard UK ceiling voids without needing to extend or splice the wiring on installation.

The twist-lock mechanism grips the two pins on a GU10 bulb base once rotated a quarter turn clockwise, holding the bulb securely without needing a separate retaining clip. The ceramic body resists thermal shock better than plastic alternatives, making it suitable for fittings where bulbs are frequently replaced or where higher-wattage halogen GU10s generate sustained heat. The holder accepts all GU10 bulbs regardless of wattage, LED or halogen technology.

Frequently Asked

What bulb types does this holder accept?

The holder accepts all GU10 twist-and-lock bulbs including LED, halogen and CFL. The ceramic construction handles halogen bulbs up to 50W, though LED equivalents are more efficient and generate less heat.

Can this be used in an enclosed downlight fitting?

Yes. The ceramic body and heat-resistant fly leads are designed for enclosed fittings where temperatures build up from sustained bulb operation. The 0.5mm² cable cross-section handles typical mains loads without overheating.

How is the holder wired in?

The two fly leads connect to the live and neutral terminals inside the ceiling rose, downlight housing or terminal block. The holder has no earth connection. Follow Part P wiring regulations and isolate the circuit at the consumer unit before making connections.

What's the advantage of ceramic over plastic?

Ceramic resists higher sustained temperatures and thermal shock better than thermoplastic lamp holders. This makes it more suitable for halogen GU10 bulbs and for fittings where bulbs are frequently replaced while still warm.
