Description

The Grottazzolina is an LED outdoor wall light with a motion sensor, built in aluminium with a textured black finish. Its head angles forward over a ribbed backplate, and an opal plastic panel underneath spreads the light down the wall. It measures 11cm long and 17.5cm high, and stands 13.5cm out from the wall. The LED is integrated, so there is no bulb to buy or change, and it gives 1,400lm at 3000K, a warm white. With an IP65 rating it is protected against dust and jets of water, so it lives outdoors on a house wall through every season.

We would put it beside a front door, along a side return or beside a path to the bin store, anywhere you want light to come on as you approach without reaching for a switch. The sensor covers a 100° angle and picks up movement up to 7m away, which suits a doorstep or a drive. At 1,400lm it gives enough light to find a keyhole or check a step, and the warm 3000K colour sits kindly against brick, render and planting. Fit a pair either side of a door, or space several along a garden wall for a run of matching light.

The aluminium body carries a textured black finish, with vertical ribbing on the backplate that gives it depth by day as well as at night, and the round sensor sits under its own small hood. The motion sensor acts as the switch, so the light looks after itself. It is rated energy class C and weighs 0.61KG. As a wired-in wall light it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a PDF download. To care for it, wipe it with a soft damp cloth now and then to keep the opal panel clear and the sensor reading well.
