Description

The Grilvessa is a ceiling pendant light with a rounded cage shade made from steel strips. Black strips curve around the outside, with gold strips set just inside them, so the shade reads as two colours at once. It hangs on a black cord from a black ceiling rose, stands 110cm high overall and measures 25.5cm across the shade. It takes one E27 bulb of up to 40W, which you choose yourself, as the bulb is not included. With an IP20 rating it is made for dry rooms indoors, so it belongs in living spaces rather than a bathroom or the garden.

Measuring 25.5cm in diameter, it is a compact pendant that suits a dining table, a kitchen island, a landing or a hallway, where a single light has to look good from every angle. The open cage leaves the bulb visible between the strips, so a decorative bulb is worth choosing, and an amber one sits naturally against the gold. The black and gold pairing works with warm wood, pale walls and dark metal alike, and it gives a smaller room a clear focal point without crowding it. For anyone who wants a ceiling light with some character but a modest footprint, it is an easy choice.

The body is steel throughout, finished in black and gold. There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, so it works from your existing light switch. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains, and as a wired-in ceiling light it should be installed by a qualified electrician. The installation instructions are available as a download, so your electrician can read them beforehand. Packed, it weighs 1.97KG. Choose your bulb before the pendant is hung, keeping to 40W or less, so the light is ready the moment it is fitted.

How big is the pendant?

It stands 110cm high overall, from the ceiling rose to the base of the shade, and the shade is 25.5cm in diameter.

Does the light have its own switch?
