Description
The Grelbine is a solar wall light with a built-in motion sensor, finished in black and made from aluminium and plastic. Its rectangular body stands 20cm tall and 9cm wide, then turns forward over a rounded corner into a flat head that projects 20cm from the wall. Beneath that head sits a transparent plastic diffuser over 18 integrated LEDs, each rated at 0.2W, so the light falls downwards across the wall. It carries an IP44 rating, which means it is protected from splashing water and lives outdoors on a house wall.
Because it runs on daylight, there is no mains connection to arrange. That makes it an easy choice for a front door, a side passage, a back gate or a garden wall where no power reaches. The panel charges from daylight and, as general guidance, does best in an open, sunny spot rather than under deep eaves or overhanging trees. The motion sensor on the front means the light comes on as someone approaches, so you get light at the moment you need it without leaving the light burning all night. Its narrow, upright shape sits neatly beside a door frame and suits modern brickwork, render and cladding.
The body is aluminium with plastic parts, and the black runs across the whole fitting, from the head down to the sensor surround. Aluminium does not rust, which matters on a wall that takes the weather all year. The charge is held in a Li-ion battery of 2200mAh, and the light weighs 0.819KG packed, so it is easy to handle during fitting. The installation instructions come as a download. As a practical note, keep the solar panel clear of leaves and grime so it gathers as much daylight as it can, and the light will be ready whenever someone walks past after dark.
