Description

Graphic Black is a 102cm circle cut into segments by black lines, with each segment a separate piece of mirror sitting on a black board. The lines are the gaps between the pieces rather than paint on a single sheet, so the board shows through them and the pattern has real depth to it rather than being printed on.

Because the segments are separate pieces of glass set at the same plane, each one catches light slightly differently as you move past, and the circle breaks into facets rather than holding one even reflection. That makes it a decorative piece more than a mirror to use closely, and it wants a wall with room round it so the geometry can be read whole. It hangs one way up. It is not rated for a bathroom, so keep it out of a wet room. At 15kg and 2cm deep it is a one person lift on the two hooks and plugs supplied.

The construction is mirrored glass on mdf, which is what the black board is. Clean the mirror with cleaner sprayed onto a cloth and keep liquid out of the gaps between segments, since water sitting on a board edge is the one thing that will damage a piece built this way. Nothing needs assembling. It is made in China to our own design and carries the seven year mirror warranty. The segments are cut so no two are the same size, which is deliberate and stops the circle reading as a wheel.
