Description

The Gosmelle is a slim, round smart LED downlight that mounts on the surface of the ceiling, with a steel body in a satin nickel finish framing a white plastic diffuser. It is 21.1cm across and only 2.5cm deep, so it sits close to the ceiling as a neat disc with a softly brushed metal rim. The light source is integrated LED, drawing 11.2W and giving out 1,400lm. Its IP44 rating means it is protected from splashing water, which opens up the bathroom as well as drier rooms; a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone.

Because the colour temperature runs from 2700K to 6500K, one light can give a warm, relaxed glow in a bedroom at night and a crisp, cool white in a kitchen, hallway or home office during the day. It dims too, so you can bring the brightness down for a quiet evening. The colour-changing setting is the fun part: a living room or a games room can take on a wash of pink, blue or green for a film night or a party. It suits anyone who wants a single ceiling light to cover several moods without adding extra lamps.

You control it by app, and it also works with a remote control, which is sold separately rather than included. There is no switch on the light itself, as it is switched at the wall. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains, has an energy class of E and weighs 0.637KG packed. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. Because the LED is integrated, there is no separate bulb to buy or replace.
