Description

The Gosmelle is a square, slim LED downlight that fits directly against the ceiling, with a white plastic frame around a white plastic diffuser. It is 39cm long and 39cm wide, and at just 2.5cm high it keeps a low profile overhead, which makes it a sound choice for lower ceilings where a pendant would hang in the way. The LED is integrated, so there is no bulb to buy or replace, and it gives 2,700lm from 17.8W. Its IP44 rating means it is protected from splashing water, so it is just as happy in a steamy room as a dry one.

We would fit it in a hallway, a living room, a home office or a kitchen, anywhere you want bright, even light from one fitting. Thanks to the IP44 rating it can also go in a bathroom, where a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone. The real gain is choice. The white light adjusts from a warm 2700K for relaxed evenings to a crisp 6500K for reading and close work, and the colour-changing RGB setting fills the room with colour for a party or a film night.

It is dimmable and controlled by app, and it also works with a remote control, which is sold separately. There is no switch on the light itself, so it is switched at the wall in the usual way. The body and the shade are both white plastic, giving a clean, neutral face that blends into a white ceiling. It runs on 220 to 240V mains, carries an energy class of D and has a packed weight of 1.75KG. As a wired-in mains light it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download, so your electrician can read them well before the job starts.
