Description

The Gosmelle is a slim, round LED downlight that sits close to the ceiling as a single white disc, 38.9cm across and just 2.5cm deep. The body and the diffuser are both white plastic, so the whole fitting reads as one clean circle by day. The LED is integrated, drawing 17.5W and giving 2,850lm, which makes it a capable main light for a room. It carries an IP44 rating, meaning it is protected from splashing water, so it is not limited to dry rooms.

We would put it in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and kitchens, and the IP44 rating makes it a sensible choice for a bathroom ceiling too, where a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone. The colour temperature runs from a warm 2700K to a cool 6500K, so one fitting can give a cosy glow in the evening and crisp, bright light for cooking or reading by day. It is colour-changing (RGB) as well, so you can wash the room in blue or pink for a party or a film night, then return to plain white the next morning. Being dimmable, it lets you set the level to suit the moment.

You control the light from an app, and it also works with a remote control, which is sold separately and not included in the box. There is no switch on the fitting; it is switched at the wall in the usual way. As a wired mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions are available as a download.
