Description

Gosmelle is a set of three round LED downlights that sit almost flush with the ceiling, each with a brushed satin nickel bezel framing a white diffuser. Each light measures 8.8cm across, fits a 7.5cm cut-out and needs only 4cm of recess depth, so a shallow ceiling void is enough. The LEDs are integrated, drawing 3.7W per light and giving 450lm each, so there are no bulbs to buy or change. The rating is IP20, which settles where they belong: indoors, in dry rooms.

We would put this set in a living room, hallway, bedroom or study, where a few small points of light across the ceiling give an even spread without anything hanging into the room. Three colour temperatures are chosen at the light: 2700K for a warm, relaxed evening glow, 4000K for a crisper neutral white, and 6500K for a bright, daylight-like light where you read or work. That choice means the same downlight can match the mood of a lounge or the clarity a home office needs. Because the lights are not dimmable, pair them with a standard wall switch rather than a dimmer.

The body is plastic in a satin nickel finish, brushed in fine circular lines, and the white plastic diffuser spreads the LEDs into a soft, even disc of light. There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, while the colour temperature is chosen at the light. The set runs on 220-240V mains and carries energy class E. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a PDF download. No. They are rated IP20, which means indoors and dry, so we suggest living rooms, hallways, bedrooms and studies rather than bathrooms or anywhere near water.

Can I change the colour of the light?
