Description

Gosmelle is a square LED downlight with a matt black plastic frame around a white plastic diffuser. It is 22cm long, 22cm wide and only 2.5cm deep, so it sits low and neat against the ceiling. The light comes from integrated LEDs drawing 10.5W and giving 1,700lm, which means there is no bulb to buy or change. It carries an IP44 rating, so it is protected from splashing water and can go into a bathroom, a kitchen or a covered porch as readily as a dry living room.

Because the frame is so shallow, it suits rooms where a hanging pendant would feel crowded: a hallway, a landing, a utility room or a kitchen with a low ceiling. In a bathroom it is a practical choice, and a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone. The colour temperature can be set to 2700K for a warm white that settles a bedroom or lounge in the evening, 4000K for a crisper neutral white that suits a kitchen worktop or home office, or 6500K for a cool daylight tone whenever you want everything bright and clear. One fitting covers several moods, so you are never locked into a single tone.

Both the body and the diffuser are plastic, with softly rounded corners on the matt black frame and an even, white glow across the face whenever the LEDs are lit. Its energy class is D. It is not dimmable and has no switch of its own, so you turn it on and off at the wall, using a standard switch rather than a dimmer. Like any light wired into the mains, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download.
