Description

The Gosmelle is a slim, round LED downlight in white, with a neat white trim framing an opal diffuser that spreads the light evenly across its face. The body and the diffuser are both plastic, and the whole downlight measures 16.8cm in diameter. Its LED is integrated, drawing 10.5W and giving 1,200lm, so there is never a bulb to buy or change. It is rated IP20, and that settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms, away from splashing water.

Recessed into the ceiling, it sits almost flush, leaving only the thin trim on show, and it suits hallways, landings and stairwells as well as living rooms, bedrooms and home offices. What sets it apart is the choice of three colour temperatures: a warm 2700K for a cosy living room or bedroom, a crisper 4000K for a hallway or study, and a bright 6500K, close to daylight, wherever you want clear light for close work. You choose the tone at the light itself, so a single downlight can match the lamps already in the room, and a run of them can be set to the same tone throughout a hall or landing.

It needs a 15.5cm cut-out and 4cm of recess depth, so check the space above your ceiling before you order. There is no switch on the downlight itself; it works from your existing wall switch, and because it is not dimmable it belongs on a standard switch rather than a dimmer. It runs on 220-240V mains at 50/60Hz, carries energy class E and weighs 0.315KG packed. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download, so your electrician has them to hand from the start.
