Description

The Gosmelle is a round LED downlight that sits almost flush with the ceiling. A black steel bezel frames a white plastic diffuser. It measures 11.7cm across and needs a cut-out of 10.5cm, with a recess depth of just 2.6cm, so it suits ceilings where the void above is shallow. The LED is integrated, drawing 5.5W and giving 650 lumens of warm white light at 3000K. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms, away from bathrooms and outside walls.

From below, the ceiling shows only a neat black ring around a glowing white disc. That makes this black downlight a good fit for hallways, landings, living rooms, bedrooms and studies, wherever you want even light without a pendant or shade in the way. Several set in a line along a corridor give a steady wash of light, which works well over a run of framed pictures or prints. The black bezel is the detail worth noticing: against a white or pale grey ceiling it reads as a crisp, graphic accent. At 3000K the warm white light flatters wood and warm paint colours, so rooms feel welcoming in the evening.

The body is steel and the diffuser is plastic. Because the LED is integrated, there is no bulb to buy or change. It is not dimmable and has no switch of its own. It is switched at the wall, so pair it with a standard wall switch rather than a dimmer. It runs on 220-240V mains at 50/60Hz and carries an energy class of F.
