Description

The Gemini is a plain velvet cushion with a trick built into its trim. Each edge carries its own line of contrasting double piping, so the same cushion gives you two looks: turn it one way for one piping colour, flip it around for the other. On the pumpkin velvet shown here, one face is edged in a deep plum and the other in a bright lime, both of them set against the warm amber-orange of the velvet itself. It comes in a single large square size, 50 by 50cm, and is made from 100% polyester.

A large 50cm square earns its place at the back of a sofa or across a bed, where a smaller pad tends to disappear. The pumpkin tone is warm and reads well against grey and charcoal upholstery, as in the photograph, and against darker walls where it lifts the scheme rather than blending into it. Because the piping is reversible, one cushion works in two different rooms or two different seasons; keep the plum edge showing for a quieter, more muted look, or the lime for something brighter.
